Everything that is broken has the ability to heal.
The Mind.
The Body.
The Spirit.
Sometimes you just need a little help along the way.
Why Intensives?
With the effectiveness of EMDR therapy, the Intensive approach allows the healing process to be accelerated and concentrated in a way to emphasize the power of EMDR without having to live so much life inbetween sessions.
Essentially, Intensives let you take the deep dive you need to take in order to dedicate days rather than months to
focus on your healing and feel better faster.
Prior to the Intensive we meet for a Pre-Intensive Interview to talk about your goals for our time together.
During the Intensive we do two things:
1) Make the painful stuff hurt less
and
2) Help the good stuff feel better.
The first step in doing this is to currate a customized therapy space just for you.
Before the Intensive session you will have the opportunity to select from a menu of snacks, beverages, scents and sensory items to help create an environment that meets your needs while we are together. Additionally, I will invite you to bring a comfort item to each of your intensive sessions.
Next, we will use EMDR reprocessing as well as resourcing activities like guided meditation, body work, sandtray or artwork - incorporating the bilateral stimulation (BLS) used in EMDR. This process can and will be very customized to you with frequent opportunities for us to check in and make sure we are still moving in a direction that feels good to you.
After the Intensive, we will meet for a Post-Intensive Interview.
This time is used to reflect on the elements that were most meaningful to you and how you want to infuse those into your life moving forward. We will also talk about how you can most effectively share what you've gained and invite those closest to you into your healing space to continue to move forward together.

IMAGINE...
Getting in a race car, flooring the accelerrator and then slamming on the breaks the minute the car gets up to 80 mph and doing this repeatedly, over and over again.
That is traditional therapy...everytime you are getting to the "good stuff" in session, your time is up and you have to wait until next time to resume.
With Intensives...
It's like getting in a race car and steadily pressing your foot to the accelerrator, rounding each lap in equal time and getting to the finish line without burning your tires out.
